It is obvious that children absorb information using their different senses. Psychologists have observed that various children use their senses differently. Some children may depend on their eyes more, some may be more dependent on their ears. Yet others may be using their sense of touch to learn. Understanding a child’s priority in using his senses may be of great use in developing his learning skills.

For instance, visual learners who use their eyes more, may rely on the sense of sight when absorbing information. They easily pick up visual clues like motion, color, shape and size.Such children usually have excellent eye- hand coordination.

Children who prefer their sense of hearing, on the other hand, are better listeners. They are more likely to be early talkers, and posses a greater vocabulary. Likewise, there are those who make more use of their sense of touch to absorb information and learn. They would prefer hands- on learning through touch and movement.

Most children would exhibit characteristics from more than one category. Yet, close observation may reveal a child’s strong preference for one style of learning. This would enable parents to use the child’s play time effectively, to develop weaker skills, while reinforcing natural strengths.

Every child would have a preferred sense and method to absorb information. Yet, he cannot be too choosy, because a child has to work in a group situation where all sorts of skills come into play. A little child cannot say to his teacher, “I would rather listen to the story, than read it myself .” Parents can help him from a very early age to avoid such predicaments.

When your child is three and four years old, your child is fast picking up language skills. She loves new words, and knows how to request or command ( Please, may i..), (Bring me..). The concept of grammar too, is growing fast.

Here are some tips to enhance the language skills of toddlers:-

Talk with them often to encourage their speaking skills.

Never overtly correct your child’s mistakes.Give them time to correct it.

Correct the mistakes by repeating the sentence correctly and slowly for them.

Ask small simple questions while talking and encourage them to answer these.

Slowly introduce longer and more complex sentences into your conversation.

Use plenty of physical and non-verbal expression while talking to children.

Encourage them to read.

If you are planning to welcome your second baby please prepare your toddler mentally.

Here are some really interesting and quick tips which you can use on your toddler before your second bundle of joy enters this beautiful world. The arrival of a new baby into the world is of course an occasion of happiness, excitement and joy – but for the newborn’s sibling, it can be one of heartfelt insecurity, strong feeling fears, jealousy ,loneliness and confusion.

No matter how well you know your child, it’s difficult to predict how he or she will react when the baby is born. There are few things you can do to prepare your child for the new arrival of your baby.

1) Firstly give your toddler a time frame that she can understand for when the new baby will arrive, such as after holidays, her birthday or some occasion.

2)Tell your toddler in advance that he’s going to have a new sibling but don’t tell him too soon or he’ll get bored with the idea.

3)Take your child on a brief tour of the hospital where you will deliver. Explain all the details of who will look after her and where she will stay while you are in the hospital.

4)Let her or him feel yourbaby bump, so that he can feel the baby’s presence too.

5)Decorate the newborn’s room with your child.Involve your toddler in the preparations! If he doesn’t handle the change well in the beginning, he is sure to adapt and will probably end up taking his ‘big brother’ role very seriously.

6) Begin arranging time for your child to spend alone with grandparents, and your partner, so others can tend to her needs while you care for your new born baby.

Seriously these are the few quick tips which can lead to a good and healthy relationship between your toddler and the new one. Believe me even i have tried this formula personally .

Kids can also have a proper full fledged meals be it in the form of juice , soups, mashed, minced, chopped or stewed fruits and vegetables. These food don’t look like solid ones but they fulfill the demand of the young ones in the form of proper nourishing meal or food. Here are some of the examples of food which can be given to our little masters…..

Fruits for 4 -12 months:-

Banana, Pear, Apple, Apricots,Coconut,Figs, Grapes,Kiwi, Mango, Peach, Papaya, Plum, Pumpkin etc.

Vegetables for 4 -12 months:-

Corn, Onion, Peas,Potato, Spinach, Sweet Potato,Tomatoes, Turnip,Carrots,Beans

Milk and Milk Products for 4 – 12 months:-

Milk Toned/ Cow/ Buffalo,Cheese, Yogurt etc

Once your child gets 12 months and above you have to switch to solid foods from semi solid ones and you can try lots of other food stuff including these ones in between meals with different textures. Here are some healthy options you might like to try -

Peeled and mashed slices of fruits such as apple, pears, water melon and mango

cooked vegetables in the form of pulp or soup such as carrot, cauliflower, spinach, beans, broccoli, and pumpkin

Steamed or baked sweet potatoes

idlis or upma with vegetables

chapatis made from mixed e.g wheat, juar, bajra, besan flour with cooked dal.

Apart from these food breast feeding is a must.

Remember, always consult with your pediatrician regarding introducing solid foods to your baby and specifically discuss any foods that may pose allergy risks for your baby.

Let us take the instance of reading out a story. If the child is one who prefers to learn through movements, encourage him to act out the events you narrate. At the same time, point to the pictures, and ask him to help you tell the story, to give a boost to his other faculties. Some children try to remember how the word looks when learning spelling words.

Toddlers are considered as the most notorious fussy and choosy eaters. From the 1st year of the child’s development and health to around about the age of 4, child’s body and brain goes through huge growth. In fact it will double in size. A good diet, filled with all the essential nutrients your child needs during this phase of growth, will ensure you are taking care of your child’s health as well as his physical health. Here are some quick tips to handle his fussy habits into healthy ones..

A one-year-old child would be given one tablespoon at a time of cereal, pureed fruit, mashed vegetable soup, and one boiled egg, and milk and dairy products in portions of ½ a cup at a time e.g cheese, paneer etc.A two-year-old child would be given two tablespoons at a time of the different foods.A three-year-old child would be given three tablespoons at a time of the various foods.

We all know iron helps maintain energy and vitality, but in infants and young children it is also vital for brain function and development. If not given adequate iron supplements to the toddler then the symptoms of iron deficiency include crankiness, irritability and in severe cases, failure to meet milestones.Toddlers run out of food quickly as they have very small stomach and an empty stomach means a hungry brain and an irritable, unhappy child. So try to keep a track of the timing and make sure they are fed regularly with meals and snacks in short spans and should not take more than two to three hours apart to help avoid unnecessary tantrums.

Hence after following these important tips if it does not help fully, then it is best to take an early appointment with a dietitian to discuss the possibility of a food intolerance by the toddler.

Pregnancy is the most beautiful experience of a lifetime for a lady,

So we should and must enjoy and treasure every bit of it by keeping healthy ,so here are some of the great tips which will help you look in shape and ravishing while you are pregnant.

Staying fit during pregnancy is great for everyone, not only will it help you keep your body toned but it also can help when it comes time to push that baby out. From the first trimester, to the moment of holding your baby,It is such a great experience for both men and women.Every pregnant woman wants to be able to go back to her pre- pregnancy weight after the baby is born, but the only way to do that is to make sure you can do it. By exercising or working out every day you are making sure you don’t add fat to your body. During labor pains it’ll be much easier to push the baby out if you’ve been strengthening your leg and stomach muscles. Who knows, it may even make your labor pains a little bit shorter. I think every woman wants this.

You are growing life inside of you, you have a glowing shine around you, you are a beautiful thing, and you are life, you are getting closer to your loved one.
There is nothing more beautiful than a pregnant woman.when you are tired and just feeling a little blue, just by exercising you actually increase your energy.

Many of us (men and women) make a lot of mistakes during pregnancy. You see the woman before she becomes pregnant, taking good care of her look, looking at her best, being in a good shape, light and beautiful like a feather. And once she becomes pregnant , the transformation begins and she is back to a fat balloon. She starts taking more space in the bed, taking less care of her look. And as this continues ,she is taking less care of her body, blaming pregnancy for all the extra weight she got .

Here are a few quick things you can do to stay fit during pregnancy, without really having to break out a sweat. I’m sure by now you’ve heard of yoga, this is a very good thing for you to practice, especially if you haven’t always been in the best of shape.Get a chair and try doing a couple crunches, 5 to 10 in the beginning to make sure you don’t pull anything.ry running, walking or jogging outside. Not only will this boost up your energy but it’ll also help get your spirits up, especially if you’ve been inside all day. Remember, if you are going for a walk to always bring a drink with you. You don’t want to dehydrate out there. Always make sure that you are wearing comfortable shoes, before you leave the house. If you didn’t always run, ask your doctor if you can. Sometimes a doctor may suggest you walk around the block at first and increase it from there, if you didn’t always do it before you were pregnant.

So stay healthy and keep fit….

Operating on a baby before birth may seem like science fiction, but prenatal surgery is becoming more and more common in special pediatric programs throughout the United States.

Since prenatal surgery was first pioneered in the 1980s, it’s become an important way to correct certain birth defects that could be severe (and in some cases fatal) if babies were born with them unrepaired.

Prenatal surgery (also called fetal surgery or fetal intervention) most often is done to correct serious problems that can’t wait to be fixed, like certain heart defects, urinary blockages, bowel obstructions, and airway malformations.

Some of the greatest successes have come from correcting spina bifida (an often disabling spinal abnormality in which the two sides of the spine fail to join together, leaving an open area). A recent landmark study reports that kids with spina bifida who received fetal surgery typically are more likely to walk, less likely to have serious neurological problems, and less likely to need a shunt to drain brain fluid.

So how does prenatal surgery work? The most common types are:

Open fetal surgery: In this type of procedure, the mother is given anesthesia, then the surgeon makes an incision in the lower abdomen to access the uterus (as would be done during a Cesarean section). The uterus is opened with a special stapling device that prevents bleeding, the fetus is either partially or completely taken out of the womb, surgery is done, then the baby is returned to the uterus, and the incision is closed. Open fetal surgery is performed for problems like spina bifida and certain other serious conditions. The mother will be in the hospital for 3-7 days and will need a C-section to give birth to the baby (and any future children).

Fetoscopic surgery: This minimally invasive type of procedure, often called Fetendo fetal surgery, is more common than open fetal surgery. Small incisions are made and the fetus is not removed from the uterus. The surgeon uses a very small telescope (called an endoscope) designed just for this kind of surgery and other special instruments to enter the uterus and correct the problem. Fetendo is most useful for problems with the placenta, such as twin-twin transfusion syndrome in which one identical twin grows at the expense of the other because of abnormal blood vessel connections in the placenta they share.

Fetal image-guided surgery: Some fetal surgery is done without an incision to the uterus or use of an endoscope. Doctors use ultrasound to guide them as they perform “fetal manipulations,” such as placing a catheter in the bladder, abdomen, or chest. The least-invasive form of fetal surgery, it’s not used for serious conditions that require open surgery.

The benefits of prenatal surgery don’t come without risks, though. Chief among them are premature births and problems with the incision site. Moms who have fetal intervention are closely monitored for preterm labor and receive medications to control it. Still, for many parents and their babies, fetal surgery is a true medical miracle.
